You must of course save yourself, and the only way you can do that is by jumping from one piece of ice to the other. That's all simple, until you bump into local characters which of course won't bother helping you - you'll have to jump over them. This will require your full attention as from the second level on, getting to the pods isn't that much of a breeze - you'll have to squeeze the ship through holes and caves.
